How You Can Support

Forest City is a truly independent documentary film. It was self-funded, created without any external support such as grants etc.

As a first-time filmmaker, it is often very hard to secure external funding and we did not create any sort of crowd-funding campaign to help finance the film.

So why did we do it? We made the film because the director/producer believed that if more of us could experience the clear-cut of a mature forest for new housing, as she did, then more urban forests might be saved in the future.

Everyone on our team worked very hard — many more hours than they could ever be compensated for — to realize this vision.

True to our vision/mission, we are enabling organizations, professional associations, educators etc. to host local/community screenings of the film to educate, engage and inspire. We charge a small fee for this service to cover administration effort.

However, the screening fees are not enough to cover everything including the ongoing maintenance of this website, entry fees to film festivals to ensure the film is shown to audiences around the world, and travel expenses for in-person Q&As with the filmmaker where warranted, etc. So this is why we are inviting you to consider supporting the film with a small donation, of sorts. Every little bit helps.

We want to make clear that we are not a registered charity, so we cannot provide charitable tax receipts for monetary support, but rest assured any monies provided will be channelled into furthering our mission, as stated above.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
